In case you need to be evacuated from your home there are a number of things you should think about taking with you.
It is not necessary to keep them ready and packed to go, but you should know where to find the items in a hurry and keep a sturdy bag which is large enough to carry them.

- Copy of your Household Emergency Plan
- House and car keys
- Mobile phones & chargers
- Wallet, purse, cash, bank cards
- Glasses and contact lenses
- Important personal documents in a waterproof bag (insurance, passports, driving licences)
- Medication
- Essential childcare supplies (nappies, food)
Items to consider if you have time and space
- Washing kit and toiletries
- Feminine hygiene supplies
- First aid kit
- Prescription slips
- Other childcare supplies (toys, clothes, blanket, etc)
- Wet wipes for personal hygiene
- Sleeping bag or warm blanket for each person – consider additional bedding during winter
- Complete change of clothing – consider additional clothing during winter
- Notebook and pen
- Black bags / bin liners
- Bottled water
- Snack bars
- Games and books
- Torch and spare batteries (or wind up torch)
- Radio and spare batteries (or wind up radio)
